๐ Implications & Observations
Australiaโs fleet is large and growing steadily (20 M โ 21 M + vehicles).
SUVs and light commercial vehicles dominate new purchases โ showing consumer preference for larger vehicles.
Passenger cars (traditional sedans/hatchbacks) are declining as a share of new sales.
Although EVs are growing, internal-combustion vehicles still dominate both the new-sales and existing-fleet segments.
The used-car market is very active โ more used cars sold than new in 2023 (used โ 2.07 M vs new less than that).
